Homes for 'The Three Little Pigs'

We have had lots of fun designing and making homes for 'The Three Little Pigs'. The children worked together to find suitable materials for the homes.

Class 2 have done some writing about the activity:

'To build a house for the three little pigs we used polystyrene because it is very strong and looked water proof. We used red plastic for the roof because it was water proof and looked quite strong. We used cardboard because it was the best material for the door because it would make a fantastic door. We used masking tape to hold it together.' by Maggie and Joe

'We made our house out of polystyrene. We are doing about houses. We chose polystyrene because it was strong. Also we did plastic because we thought it will be a good roof.' by Kiara and Sam H

'Our group choose polystyrene because it was strong. We thought plastic would be waterproof. our house was strong.' by Rohan and Amelia

A busy end of term!
We were very busy right up until the end of term. We went on a lovely trip to Harewood House to do some exciting Christmas and winter activities. We made fantastic winding mechanisms in our Design Technology work AND we performed a super Christmas concert: the Very Hopeless Camel.
We are going to be just as busy next year with lots of fun and interesting learning.
What a fantastic end to 2010 and roll on 2011.
Happy New Year to everyone!

Multi skills festival
Well done to those children who took part in the multi skills festival today. You were fantastic Featherbankers and you did a great job!!
Poetry Week
We had an excellent poetry week last week. We read lots of poems in the classroom and some children even learned poems by heart. On Thursday we had a whole school 'poetry marathon' in the library - we made sure that there was someone reading poetry every minute of the day. It was lots of fun! On Friday we had a special assembly when each class performed its own poem and some children and adults read poems too. What a lovely week!
