Big Draw 2013

Big Draw 2013

We had a great day of art activities with Mrs Turner last Thursday. We looked at a piece of art called "Winter Palace" by Bridget Riley and explored our ideas about it in lots of different ways.

We created a door hanging for our classroom in Leeds United colours! Mrs Robinson was happy about this when she saw it.

We created colour wheels, extended the colours within the art work outwards using some special pens, matched the colours using colour charts AND created a large scale version of the art outside with squirty paint!

There was even a large rainbow cake created during the week and everyone in school was able to have a small slice of it - delicious! Thank you for baking with us, Mrs Joyce.

Squirting!
Look what we did!

Using the colour charts.

Extending the lines.

Could you match all the colours?

Time for the blue ...

Beautiful, brilliant Bramley Fall Woods!

Beautiful, brilliant Bramley Fall Woods!

Well, what a fantastic time we had on Monday morning on our visit to the woods.

The weather was perfect and we were able to stand completely still, listen to the birds and watch the leaves gently fluttering down from the trees.

There were lots of dog walkers in the woods and everyone was SO sensible about standing still until any dogs had walked past us. Mrs Rhodes taught us a LOT about the things we saw on our walk - even the other grown ups learned new things!

We hope you enjoy looking at the photographs on here, on the Year 2 page of the school website and on the display outside the classroom at school.

Please leave a comment to tell us what YOU liked best!
What is growing here?

What have I found?

Sketching ourselves ...

Super sketching!

This afternoon we worked in SILENCE! Yes, really! We were concentrating SO hard on our art work that there wasn't a sound in the classroom for a while.

Look at the photographs to see the concentration and care we took with our sketches. There will be more art work to come next week!

Which part of your face was the hardest to sketch?
